The Simple Woman Daybook 137

FOR TODAY: January 26, 2014
You can find the more daybooks at Simple Woman's Daybook.

Outside my window...darkness (it is close to midnight).

I am thinking...about the cards I am going to demonstrate on Tuesday.

I am thankful for...naps.

In the kitchen...I'm going to try a new soup this week. My mom just sent me the recipe.

I am wearing...black pants, a cute pattern top with a black mini jacket.

I am creating...four sets of four all-occasions cards someone has commissioned.

I am going...to see my family Friday!

I am wondering...about doing a 100 day challenge, what will my one word be, and what questions do I want to answer this year.

I am reading...Almost Christian and The Hobbit.

I am hoping...to sleep before 4am.

I am looking forward to...hugging each of the members of my family.

I am learning...I need routines.

I am hearing...a friend talk.

Around the house...tiding before my trip.

One of my favorite things...is Netflix.

A few plans for the rest of the week:...writing group tomorrow night followed by Sherlock watching with friends, hosting a Stampin Up! party Tuesday, youth group Thursday, and then the Fam-Jam begins!

Blogging Plans:...for sure I'm going to post a Thankful Thursday with week but I want to have more consistency then just these two regular series. I want to find a card making challenge but I am also open to suggestions, if you have one please leave a comment.

A Picture To Share:...I made three sets of these cards. I am really happy with how they turned.

Thankful Thursday on Friday

I have been finding it hard to get back into the grove of blogging on a consistent basis. Good habits are so
hard to form and bad habits are so difficult to break, which is direction related to my first thankfulness of the week: I am thankful that I have (I think) broken my bad habit of biting my nails! I can't think when I stopped I just noticed that I haven't. I think the change happened when my sister and I had a girl night and did our nails. I made a gorgeous set of fake nails that were fun to wear. I liked them so much I forced myself be very careful with them so they would last longer. After I removed them the trend continued. My nails aren't beautiful but they aren't embarrassing any more either.

I am thankful for post-church lunch invitations that make my day bright, craft days with girls and new Stampin Up! supplies, Sherlock TV events, luncheons with acquaints who are becoming friends and then loan me the third season of Downton Abby, and hand me down clothes on a day when I was thinking I need to go shopping. Shopping in friends closets is way better and much cheaper...now I can use that money to change my hair. I am also thankful for my wonderful neighbor. She has been amazing from helping me shovel snow and rescuing my car (which I got stuck in the driveway again) on Wednesday to a baker who shares goodies. In fact if she knows I'm having company she makes treats just for my friends. And tonight she texted me to warn that the power was out so that I should not try to rush home to make a meal before girls club at the church. That was a huge help. She is the sweetest and amazing. This has been a week filled with reasons to be thankful.

Now for something new, The Thankful Thursday Thank You Card. Back in October I became an independent Stampin Up! demonstrator (I even have a site for online shopping). I've been enjoying the new venture and the opportunity to be more creative with paper-crafts. The next step is to also sell cards I have made.

I have also been looking for ways to share my creations and what could be a better place than right here on the blog. There are a few weekly challenges I would like to get involved in in the future but for now I am going to start small. In addition to the regular Thankful Thursday sharing I am going to add a Thank You card I have made with details to the supplies I used, maybe tips, and links in cases where the desire was inspired by someone else's work.

Ink: Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe, Daffodil Delight, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana, and Island Indigo

New Year -New Things

Happy New Year friends, family, and any readers who still visit.

My new keyboard arrived today! Blogging shall resume. Just after Christmas, Dad helped me pull me into the new age of technology. I got a new phone (nicest phone I've ever owned), a tablet (Surface Pro), and then internet. I'm not sure what the biggest tech leap. My phone now has data. The tablet is good but adjusting to the new system has been a steep learning curve and more then a little frustrating. Both those things were big changes but I think getting Wi-Fi after seven years at home was the biggest step.

My plan was to resume blogging January 1st. The delay was waiting for the keyboard to arrive. The tablet has a touch screen keyboard but it doesn't work (for me) for long paragraphs. So I was waiting for my keyboard. It arrived today and it is awesome! Well, maybe not awesome, it doesn't have actual keys and it is another adjustment. All this means more posts in the future.

Other new things, Christmas was excellent. My parents and sister came to visit. I am looking forward to seeing them in two weeks. We're having an awesome big family trip. Also I became a demonstrator for Stamping Up! in October. For those not into paper crafts it is direct sales like Tupperware for crafters. It has been going well. I am also hoping to sell my homemade cards.

So that is how 2014 started for me. I am looking forward to blogging regularly again and everything else this year holds. And now it is time to sleep. Good night friends!
