WIP: February 11

Welcome the first WIP (Works-In-Progress) Wednesday of 2026.

My hope is that this will be a semi-regular feature of the blog. I'll be sharing project updates with progress pictures. Both celebrating the wins and acknowledging the process struggles.  I have few desires with this return to the blog format. First, it hope sharing WIP on Wednesday will help keep me accountable about enjoying my hobbies and finishing projects. Second, it could help me get back into regular writing. Here are the current projects:

Kanban Board

I am a collector of hobbies and projects. Turns out so is Alex. It might be an ADHD thing. It means we have a lot of projects in various stages of completion. As 2025 ended we began working on ways that we can track our project goals this year. We decided on trying a shared creative Kanban Board. So far we've identified 80 projects we want to work on in five categories. Our categories are: Christmas, Sewing, Cosplay, Liz specific, and Alex specific.

The board is ready for use. I've penciled all our projects on individual cue cards. I want them to look pretty, so the next step is to go over with markers. We also are going to make a box to store the projects that aren't being worked on. We've also agreed that only a few cards from each category can be on the board at a time.

Crochet

Last year I picked up a Knotted Loveys pattern book and begun making a bunny for a friends grandbaby. Then three more loveys got added to my to make list. However every project stalled because I was so stressed about having embroidering the eyes. The last week of 2025 I was going to meet up with one of the loveys intended recipients and that was enough of a motivation that I was able to finish the rabbit, lamb. And have since finished a fox and hippo as well.

I currently have two more loveys on the go, a lamb and a bear. The lamb only has an ear finished (no picture) but as I was starting that project I learned of a need for a bear for this coming Saturday. So the lamb is on hold as I work on the bear.

Embroidery
Embroidery is still a fairly new interest. Alex gifted me a kit in the summer of 2021 (we think). I enjoyed it so much that I made two other projects from kits. Then I got stuck on this project. I have had no motivation to finish it. It has not been as fun. The instructions aren't great and the actual embroidery has been...words fail. But its been sitting in my craft bag for over a year.

I have all these other embroidery ideas but I won't let myself start them until this is completed. I think the only way that will happen is if I go off script and come up with my own design plan.
