Winterlude at the Rideau Canal

The big, "must-do", Winterlude activity is go skating on the Rideau Canal, "the World's Longest Skating Rink". I haven't been since I was in grade six. So, for the last weekend of Winterlude we headed to Dow's Lake for one last bit of wintry goodness.

The plan had been to skate. After looking up the ice conditions we decided that walking would be better. Our theory was confirmed when we saw a number of walkers carrying their skates. Much of the ice was slushy on top but it was a warm day that was perfect for a walk.

One of the bridges a small photography instillation. There were eight pictures each showing a different aspect or a bit of the history canal.

We walked. We walked a lot. My phone said we walked 11,460 steps or 6 km. I am very sore today but the Beavertail was worth it. And that's it for Winterlude 2020.
