Happy NaNo Eve!

Twas the night before NaNo, and all through my place
The writers were waiting to start the word race.
Some had plotted and outlined a story with great care,
While others were hoping when writing a story would be there.

The writers were waiting with no time for beds,
While visions novels danced in their heads.
Trying to working through a potential plot gap,
And I was thinking it was almost time for a nap.

But what was I thinking with November minutes away,
An event like this deserves a soiree.
There will be rejoicing and songs on piano,
Wishing you all a very merry NaNo!

Happy NaNo Eve!

Sweet Surprize: One Lovely Blog Award

Bowl of Stew(art) has it's first blog award nomination. It was a nice surprise after a few weak months of blogging but it made me smile. Thank you to my college friend Glo, who writes to A Different Drum Beat, for the nomination. You are a giver of smiles and warm fuzzies.

The Rules:
1.  Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
2.  List seven random things about yourself.
3.  Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award.

Seven Random Things:
1. I like polka dots, Doctor Who, and craft stores.
2. I've participated in NaNoWriMo five times.
3. I go to church in costumes most recently as ancient Egyptian royalty but not Cleopatra.
4. One of my favourite childhood books was The Runaway Bunny.
5. I started knitting when I was six.
6. I'm a boardgame geek.
7. I would rather read a real book than an ebook....but really enjoy audio books too.

This is hard because I don't read 15 blogs at the moment, many of the ones I would include are inactive, AND half of the active blogs I do read were nominated by Glo. We'll see how many I can get:

1. Choosing Hallelujah
2. The Agnostic Secretary
3. NIMLAS Studios
4. Aurora's Space

I am wearing...jeans, U2 tee, grey pinstriped hat.

I am creating...a home.

I am going...home to bed.

I am wondering...about this week's to do list.

I am reading....Job (the guy in the bible not work opportunities)

I am hoping...the settling in continues to go well (Saturday's move was successful).

I am looking forward to...Trunk or Treat.

I am hearing...people talking in the other room.

Around the house...the bathroom, craft office, and bedroom need organizing but everything is coming together well.

One of my favorite for my place. Today I got a kettle, butter dish, sugar bowl, and creamer.

A few plans for the rest of the week:...settling in, GEMS, opening show of a kids play, and a games night Birthday celebration. I promise picture of the new place soon. I left the camera at home.

My Moving Adventures - Step 1: The Massive Purge

It's just two days till I move into my new place. Like everything else, moving is a process. A successful move begins long before the moving trunk arrives, or in my case 8 friends some of who have trucks and/or trailers.

For any long time readers, you would be aware that decluttering has been a long time goal, challenge, and stress in my life. I just had too much stuff. "My Moving Adventures" began mid September when three wonderful friend announced they were invading my house the next Monday. They were coming to help me give, donate, or throw things. Long before I could even think about moving I had to purge.

That Monday and the next two we sorted, divided, and conquered. I could not have done it without those ladies (thank you!!!). The grand total is:

20 bags of garbage/recycling 4 bags of clothes for donation
6 boxes of donated "stuff" and books
3 boxes of things that could be at the church
an assortment of cardboard boxes and a number of items like a indoor green house unit that my friends found homes for.
This was a picture from the first purge day, all but that wooden shelf and the three garbage bins did not return to the house!
Moving Step 1  - The Massive Purge
Come back tomorrow for Step 2 of My Moving Adventure

We Didn't Start the Series

Any time I hear the song "We Didn't Start the Fire" I am reminded of this clever promo commercial from the 90s for Star Trek: The Next Generation. All I really remembered was "We didn't start the series. We're the Next Generation on your favourite station," which is surprisingly catchy and often stuck in my head for days after.

I've wanted to hear the whole commercial today but never thought to search youtube....till today. And I found it. This makes me happy:

I am get over this cold quickly.

I am hearing...footsteps outside my door.

Around the house...the migration of stuff from old apartment to new apartment begins this week and will be done Saturday!
