Countdown Till This Whovian sees the Christmas Special: 2 sleeps
One thing the Doctor can do with talk (1:38). The Doctor is full of words, many are quotable, some are even great. He has these speeches that stick with the fans because they sum up what we love about the Doctor. They are clever, or brave, or emotions and most of the time all three. That is what today's Top Ten is all about, the Doctor's great speeches/"Words are his weapon."-Lord PresidentHell Bent
“Four minutes? That’s ages. What if I get bored or need a television, couple of books. Anyone for chess? Bring me knitting.”
"Hey, do you mind if I tell you a story? One you might not have heard. All the elements in your body were forged many, many millions of years ago in the heart of a far away star that exploded and died. That explosion scattered those elements across the desolations of deep space. After so, so many millions of years these elements came together to form new stars and new planets. And on and on it went. The elements came together and burst apart forming shoes and ships and sealing wax and cabbages and kings. Until, eventually, they came together to make you. You are unique in the universe. There is only one Merry Galel and there will never be another. Getting rid of that existence isn't a sacrifice, it is a waste!"6) The First Doctor– S2E2 ‘The Dalek Invasion of Earth’
“During all the years I’ve been taking care of you, you in return have been taking care of me. You are still my grandchild and always will be. But now, you’re a woman too. I want you to belong somewhere, to have roots of your own. With David you will be able to find those roots and live normally like any woman should do. Believe me, my dear, your future lies with David and not with a silly old buffer like me. One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine. Goodbye, Susan. Goodbye, my dear.”
“Well, the final responsibility is mine. And mine alone. You see, if someone who knew the future pointed out a child to you and told you that that child would grow up totally evil to be a ruthless dictator who would destroy millions of lives… could you then kill that child? Do I have the right? Simply touch one wire against the other, and it’s it? The Daleks cease to exist? Hundreds of millions of people, thousands of generations, can live without fear, in peace, and never even know the word ‘Dalek’? But if I kill, wipe out a whole intelligent life form, then I’d become like them. I’d be no better than the Daleks.”
“There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea’s asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there’s danger, somewhere there’s injustice, and somewhere else the tea’s getting cold. Come on, Ace. We’ve got work to do.”
SynopsisIt looks really interesting. I am especially curious about the fourth story. How does the 8th Doctor meet River Song and still have 10 not know her when they meet in the Silence in the Library? It is a mystery.
An epic four-hour adventure that takes River Song across space and time, seeking out the secret rulers of the universe.
