July's Reading Challenge Update

Crazy month without much reading time but with only three books I was able to finish a few more challenges -WOOT! I've also passed last years book-reading total. From now on any books I read add to my "out do yourself" challenge. Still looking for book ideas that fit these title requirements, open to book suggestions:
  • A book with a topographical feature (land formation) in the title, examples: Black Hills, Purgatory Ridge, Emily of Deep Valley
  • A book with a creepy crawly in the title, examples: Little Bee, Spider Bones, The Witches of Worm
  • A book with a type of house in the title, examples: The Glass Castle, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, Ape House
  • A book with something you'd carry in your pocket, purse, or backpack in the title, examples: Sarah's Key, The Scarlet Letter, Devlin Diary

Thankful Thursday: 43-54

Today, actually the whole week, had been filled with stress and tears. So, after a two month hiadus Thankful Thursdays are back because they are good for my soul. I apologize, but my blessings seem to have a theme:

43. I am thankful that I still have a roof over my head and am guaranteed one for the next 88 days.
44. I am thankful for the awesome blessing my low rent apartment has been the past six years. I did not realize how low the rent actually was till I started apartment hunting.
45. I am thankful that my place was pet-friendly...many are not.
46. I am thankful for my kitties who cuddle with me, at the moment they feel like the worse most expensive stupid decision I have ever made but I am glad they are in my life.
47. I am thankful for my mom who spent most of today patiently listening to my woes.
48. I am thankful for my best friend who spent last night listening to my woes and trying to motivate me to think up a positive action plan.
49. I am thankful for an acquaintance stopping me yesterday on my way to the market hugging me and reminding me that I am a strong woman and I will be able to face whatever was bothering me without knowing anything....well I do wear my emotions on my sleeve.
50. I am thankful for Hannah the Summer Student she's a blast in the office.
51. I am thankful that I get to preach on Sunday.
52. I am thankful for Kijiji for making the apartment hunting a little easier
53. I am thankful that it is berry season.
54. I am thankful that there is a solution to my problems even though I don't know what it is and God will answer my prayers.
My new Thankful Thursday challenge is a thousand unique blessings. You can find the weeks here: 1-31, 32-42,

June's Reading Challenge Update

I've had an exciting realization today, we're half way through the year and I am over half way through my reading challenges. I've already surpassed my expectations for the whole year. So, yay for books and challenges going well.

The only one I have trouble with is the "What's in a Name?" challenge (mostly because I forget to look for titles that fit). Do you have a book suggest for these remaining categories?
  • A book with a topographical feature (land formation) in the title, examples: Black Hills, Purgatory Ridge, Emily of Deep Valley
  • A book with a creepy crawly in the title, examples: Little Bee, Spider Bones, The Witches of Worm
  • A book with a type of house in the title, examples: The Glass Castle, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, Ape House
  • A book with something you'd carry in your pocket, purse, or backpack in the title, examples: Sarah's Key, The Scarlet Letter, Devlin Diary

Summer Office Conversations

I'm back! Still feeling jet legged but settling in. Life is good especially at the church. I've enjoyed getting to know my summer student. She's picked up communicating with me quickly especially when I was sick and having trouble focusing also this week dealing with my jet leg. It's been fun...for example: Yesterday's Conversation: Summer Student: "It's okay I know what I'm doing" Me: "Good, I'll let you handle it because I'm pretty clueless." Summer Student: "I've noticed" Today's Conversation: Me: "How did my search for Rahab lead to a Rainbow Bright colouring page?" Summer Student: "What's Rainbow Bright?" Me: "Um, a cartoon from the 80s" Summer Student: "Wow you're old"
