Anticipation

I just watched the sunrise. At 6:08 AM I woke with a surprising start, which turned out to be a good thing because I forgot to set my alarm clock last night. I think it was my nerves that woke me or the cats, probably the nerves. It is less than four hours till the churches big "back to school why not back to church" (not the working title, it’s really a kick-off to resume our children’s ministries but neither of these explanations make for good titles either) begins. For the children’s moment and lesson Tanya Nace’s parents are here as CastleRock. They are going to do puppets, clowns, juggling and other fun things with the kids. After the service we are having a church BBQ. There is going to be an inflatable bouncing house, a face painting table, and a colouring table.

This past week we sent out about 7000 flyers advertising today. We have no idea how many people will be in church or if we have enough food. I am nervous beyond belief and the anticipation is growing. I want everything to go well but I am playing out different potential problems in my mind, like a food storage could be curbed with a quick trip to the SaveEasy. Still I have butterflies in my tummy. I don’t feel prepared but it’s not like I can postpone the day. I have no choice but to live out the next few hours. I hope it goes well.
