Day 4: I Quit

I haven't actually quit...I just wanted to when I learned what to today was challenge. I don't like giving up any of my things and that is exactly what the assignment is all about. Today the 20/20 Home Cure challenge is to remove something from your home and to set up and "OUT BOX" so that you continue to remove items over the time.

It's hard letting go of stuff. I like holding onto it...I'm like a dragon sitting on my horde of treasure (I've been re-reading the Hobbit). And I as I've already admitted I don't do well with letting go. I fought the idea all morning. At lunch I read the suggested article How To Declutter You Home. It was insightful (apart from some Feng Shui ideas I disagreed with) I found it very helpful.

So tonight when I went home I removed a book from my library and donated it to the church. I think this was a good choice for a few reasons:
  1. I buy books all the time. Books are always coming into my house but none ever leave. My library has become a large, unruly stash. They're not even on shelves. They just gather in piles and corners around my tiny apartment.
  2. I bought the book after my freshmen year of collage (longer ago than I'd like to admit) and I still haven't read it.
  3. It's at the church library so if I ever do what to read it I still have access to the book.

Hm, I think I would have trouble getting rid of something that means something to me as well. But I frequently get rid of other things...old books and clothes typically. I have several bags waiting for the salvation army as we speak!
